We just got g-Diapers (flushable/biodegradable diapers), after talking about using them for months and months. In general, I'm a fan. I'm still getting the hang of throwing out the wipes I've used, and then flushing the diaper. I've had the unfortunate luck though the past 2 days that the diapers were not filled with just #1, but #2 as well. And all the moms and dads out there who are transitioning to solid food know - poop does not smell as sweet once 'real' food enters the picture. But you'd think after 8 months I'd be pretty good with changing diapers regardless of brand though, right? I thought so anyway. Well, today I got served my parenting hubris on a silver platter.
So I go to change the diaper and for some odd reason, when I opened it up, I was so mesmerized by the ickiness of it all that I just stood staring. There was poop everywhere. Well, not everywhere... yet. Unfortunately, I did not act fast enough, and Sophie's curiosity of what the goo was down 'there' was faster. Before I could blink, there was poop on her hands, in her hair, on her face, on the changing pad, on her socks, onesie, and pants (which BTW were not even NEAR her body, so I have NO idea how they got pooped on).
It took a while, but I finally got her cleaned up, and into new clothes. I swear she laughed at me the whole time. Once I finished, I picked her up, put her in the Bjorn, and was changing the changing pad cover. As soon as I finished, she spit up all over it. I am amazed at my daughter's comic timing. I realize this is disgusting, but I figure those of you with babies will have a laugh - we're all in this together, and we've all had days like this.
